BridgeView is a gift to the Sarnia, Point Edward, and Port Huron communities, for everyone who loves watching the ships go by.

It shows the ships on the St. Clair River near the Blue Water Bridge, which ones are coming up and when, and the ones that have already gone under it. The iPhone app can alert you about ten minutes before a ship reaches the bridge, so there's time to get to the river.

Where the data comes from

Ship positions come from AIS, the radio signals ships broadcast, received by a local antenna and the data feeds credited on the map. Arrival times are estimates from each ship's speed and course. Ship photos and details come from Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons and public vessel registers, under their contributors' licences, and from people who share photos of ships in the iPhone app.

BridgeView is free, with no ads and no accounts. Its source code is open on GitHub.
